The Littlest Lincoln

General 2 Comments

Sam attended his first Abe Lincoln party last weekend! Jennie & J were so nice to invite the little ones – it made for a very lively afternoon! Sam slept through the entire party, blissfully unaware of the activities going on all around him.

I knew we had to make it a memorable day for Sam (or for mom & dad!), so I decided to make him a top hat in true Lincoln-style! I didn’t get a very good picture of him in the hat but, clutching his American flag, I think he really made a statement.

In 9 hours we’ll arrive at the hospital to have our son. We’ve spent the weekend together physically and mentally preparing for tomorrow. But can we ever prepare enough?

We’re so excited about having a child. It doesn’t seem real. I can’t wait to hold him.

Stats from our preparation weeked:
Dinner with friends on Friday night.
Movies on Saturday and Sunday night: Shop Girl, Failure to Launch

Baby Boy Sproles weighs about 2 lbs now and is approximately 14″ long.  I’m huge, but still feeling pretty good!  It’s getting noticeably harder to climb the 3 flights of stairs at work when I get a snack attack.
Our little boy is moving around quite a bit these days.  He sleeps in a little later than I do, which is a trend that I hope continues after he’s born!  He gets pretty active mid-morning, mid-afternoon and around bedtime.  We can actually see his movements now, as they are getting stronger – although we can’t tell if he’s using his elbow, foot, hand or head to get our attention.
We’re slowly getting the house ready for baby.  Last weekend we made great progress on clearing out the office and scrapbook room (soon-to-be nursery) to make room for our new furniture.  We’re going to pick it up this weekend – I can’t wait to see it set up in our house!  Just 14 more weeks to get everything together….

Help us with a name!

General 3 Comments

Kathy and I have been struggling to find a suitable name. If it had been a girl, we had things figured out. But a boy? We’re thrilled with a boy, but the names are hard! I suggested Baby Boy Sproles, but Kathy veto’d that one. My sister has come up with some great suggestions, so I decided to share them. (Love you, sis.)

Help name our son! Visit the “Name our Son!” page on the right or use this link to vote on your favorite name. If you have your own suggestion, leave us a comment and we’ll add it to the list! If the list gets too out of hand, the less popular names will be migrated off the list as new suggestions come in.

Is this a joke? Mostly, but I still want your votes! And I want your suggestions! Who knows… You may come up with the winner!

Hard to believe I’m over halfway through this pregnancy!

I’ve been feeling Baby Sproles move quite a bit in the last 2 weeks.  Robert was even able to feel him sqirming around last weekend!  He’s most active when I lay down at night to go to sleep….could be because that’s the only time of day I’m still and am not distracted by other things around me.

I’ve been craving gummy bears and sour patch watermelons recently.  So much for the healthy fruit and veggie cravings early on;  although I did eat my weight in pineapple during our cruise.  It was delicious and they served it 24-hours a day!

We’re Having a Boy!

We had an ultrasound Monday morning and got to see our little baby boy!  It was breathtaking to see his face, tiny arms, spinal cord and the four chambers of his heart!  My favorite part of the ultrasound is when we saw the bottom of his feet!  Weird, I know, especially for someone who doesn’t like feet…  They were so tiny and picture-perfect.

He currently weighs about 12 oz. and is 1 week ahead of schedule in his growth.  Approximately the size of a sweet potato (from what I’ve read)!

Thanks to all of our male friends and co-workers who have offered their own names for use in naming our baby:  Dave, Jason, Steve and Sonny.  We’ll be sure to consider those when we get serious about naming Baby Sproles!  We haven’t come up with any boy names so far (besides the above-mentioned names, of course)!  So please share any names with us that you like….we could use the help!
