Two weeks ago, we painted our living room the lovely shade of Flower Pot. We tried to get it done before Sam woke up from his nap, but we weren’t fast enough. We gave him his own brush, roller, and paint tray so he could get in on the action. He caught on quickly, but it only occupied him for about 2.5 minutes.

Is it too late to blog about Halloween? Sam was a monkey and Amelia was a Baby Bjorn banana!

We started the month with Trunk or Treat at Lake Nixon. Lots of fun! We took Sam on the paddle boats, he played in the Jupiter Jump and “played” a few games. All he really wanted to do was go on a hayride, though – mainly because there was a tractor involved. That boy loves all vehicles – trucks, tractors, trailers! Ever since that night he’s been saying “truck….trailer…..bump.”

On Halloween night, Mimi watched Amelia at home while we took Sam trick or treating in “Aunt B’s” neighborhood. DSC02347.JPG
We went from house to house with Scarlett and Miles. DSC02365.JPG
Most of the neighbors had set out a bowl of candy on their porch. About the 3rd house we came to a lady answered the door and all three of the kiddos stormed into her house! It was too funny – I mean, why would they stay on the porch? (she might have toys in there)! DSC02358.JPG

Amelia – 12 weeks

Amelia now weighs 11 lbs, 9 oz. She has just learned to grasp her toys and hold on tight! Sometimes she holds on so tight that she can’t figure out how to let go, and then she cries in frustration!

We went to Wildwood for their Fall Fest last weekend. Here’s our little pumpkin posing with some of the real pumpkins!

This afternoon Sam was eating some Goldfish and wanted to share with you. His version of sharing right now is holding something out and then taking it back! So, I looked over and he was holding a Goldfish up to your mouth. You were licking it, trying to figure out what was happening. I grabbed the camera because you were smiling so big! I think you liked what you tasted!

Sam at the State Fair

Family outing to the State Fair!
Sam was so excited to see all the animals up close and he wanted to hold everyone of them! He ran through each of the barns squealing and squatting down to get a good look at each of the animals. We saw cows, chickens, bunnies, chicks, llamas, pigs, goats, and tigers.

Amelia slept through most of it, but woke up to eat when we stopped for corndogs.

Sam,
You are learning new words everyday. You surprise us with saying something new everyday and you have a really good memory! This morning before breakfast you brought me a box of Jello Pudding Singles and said, “nack.” I told you that we could have them later for our snack after Bible Study. On the way home from Bible Study (a full 6 hours later), you asked for a snack in the car. I asked you what you wanted for your snack and you said “ping.” It was a word I hadn’t heard you say before, but when I asked if you were saying “pudding” you replied “uh-huh.” 🙂 Too cute! So, of course, we had “ping” for a snack today!

You are making associations with things you remember about our regular activities. If I tell you we’re going to church, you say “My,” for your buddy Miles at church. If I tell you we’re going to storytime, you say “tain” for the train set at B&N. It’s so much fun to watch your little brain develop and learn new things every day.

We have a door bell on our back porch and we’ve let you ring it when we’re playing outside. When you hear it, you always run inside and point to the front door like we need to let someone in. I don’t quite know how to explain that one to you. You know that you are making the bell ring, but also you knew that someone should be at the front door when you hear that sound.

You go to sleep each night with one or two teddy bears and a kitty cat (plus 2 pacis).

2 Months – Amelia

General 1 Comment

Amelia,
How the time flies – you’re already 2 months old and have captured our hearts, even Sam’s! I have to brag on you – last night you slept from 8pm – 4am. You are regularly sleeping 6 hours at night, then waking up every 2-3 hours after that to eat. Swaddling you like a baby burrito seems to help – you typically don’t fuss after we wrap you up and put you in bed! You’re outgrowing your sleepers, so I know you’re getting longer! You probably weigh around 12 lbs now, but we’ll find out your official stats on Friday when you get your 1st set of immunizations.

I took this picture so I wouldn’t forget about the dark hair you have. More in the back than front – who knows if it will stay dark or turn blonde like Sam’s!?! Just didn’t want to forget this….

You’re starting to notice your big brother now and he entertains you quite well. He likes to get up close and personal, so I have to keep a close on him when he’s playing with you. I know he’s more interesting than your toys because he is in constant motion – no batteries needed! You two are going to be best buds!

Debbie took these pictures of sweet Amelia when we visited my former co-workers last week. She’s a great photographer and loves taking pictures of everything! I didn’t tell her I was coming for a visit, so I was glad she had her camera with her that day!

Breakfast

General No Comments

Last week, I made pancakes for breakfast one day. It was a change from our usual fruit and toast, so Sam was really excited. He called them “FAN-pake.” It was too cute – he kept saying it all day. I might need to branch out more on our breakfast menu!

Sweet Amelia,
You’re already 6 weeks old! Seems like you’ve been with us for a lot longer than that, but also like you were just born. You have been smiling at us for a couple of weeks now. It is so sweet to see you interacting with us already. You can lift up your head, but don’t have much control over it. You’ve been enjoying some tummy time on your silky blanket, while looking at your new toys. I can lay you in your cradle for a little while now and put toys over the side for you to look at. Your mobile has been ordered and will hopefully be here next week – I think you’re going to like it!

We weighed you at the doctor’s office Wednesday and you are up to 11 lbs 1 oz. You are just now outgrowing some of your 0-3 month clothes. Not to worry, though, your closet is filled with clothes!
Your biggest milestone so far: you’ve been sleeping 4-6 hours at night. You eat every 2 hours during the day, so getting a break at night is wonderful for mommy & daddy! We love you, Amelia!
