Sam,
You are learning new words everyday. You surprise us with saying something new everyday and you have a really good memory! This morning before breakfast you brought me a box of Jello Pudding Singles and said, “nack.” I told you that we could have them later for our snack after Bible Study. On the way home from Bible Study (a full 6 hours later), you asked for a snack in the car. I asked you what you wanted for your snack and you said “ping.” It was a word I hadn’t heard you say before, but when I asked if you were saying “pudding” you replied “uh-huh.” 🙂 Too cute! So, of course, we had “ping” for a snack today!

You are making associations with things you remember about our regular activities. If I tell you we’re going to church, you say “My,” for your buddy Miles at church. If I tell you we’re going to storytime, you say “tain” for the train set at B&N. It’s so much fun to watch your little brain develop and learn new things every day.
We have a door bell on our back porch and we’ve let you ring it when we’re playing outside. When you hear it, you always run inside and point to the front door like we need to let someone in. I don’t quite know how to explain that one to you. You know that you are making the bell ring, but also you knew that someone should be at the front door when you hear that sound.

You go to sleep each night with one or two teddy bears and a kitty cat (plus 2 pacis).

Amelia,
How the time flies – you’re already 2 months old and have captured our hearts, even Sam’s! I have to brag on you – last night you slept from 8pm – 4am. You are regularly sleeping 6 hours at night, then waking up every 2-3 hours after that to eat. Swaddling you like a baby burrito seems to help – you typically don’t fuss after we wrap you up and put you in bed! You’re outgrowing your sleepers, so I know you’re getting longer! You probably weigh around 12 lbs now, but we’ll find out your official stats on Friday when you get your 1st set of immunizations.

I took this picture so I wouldn’t forget about the dark hair you have. More in the back than front – who knows if it will stay dark or turn blonde like Sam’s!?! Just didn’t want to forget this….

You’re starting to notice your big brother now and he entertains you quite well. He likes to get up close and personal, so I have to keep a close on him when he’s playing with you. I know he’s more interesting than your toys because he is in constant motion – no batteries needed! You two are going to be best buds!

We love you, Amelia!

Debbie took these pictures of sweet Amelia when we visited my former co-workers last week. She’s a great photographer and loves taking pictures of everything! I didn’t tell her I was coming for a visit, so I was glad she had her camera with her that day!

Last week, I made pancakes for breakfast one day. It was a change from our usual fruit and toast, so Sam was really excited. He called them “FAN-pake.” It was too cute – he kept saying it all day. I might need to branch out more on our breakfast menu!

Sweet Amelia,
You’re already 6 weeks old! Seems like you’ve been with us for a lot longer than that, but also like you were just born. You have been smiling at us for a couple of weeks now. It is so sweet to see you interacting with us already. You can lift up your head, but don’t have much control over it. You’ve been enjoying some tummy time on your silky blanket, while looking at your new toys. I can lay you in your cradle for a little while now and put toys over the side for you to look at. Your mobile has been ordered and will hopefully be here next week – I think you’re going to like it!

We weighed you at the doctor’s office Wednesday and you are up to 11 lbs 1 oz. You are just now outgrowing some of your 0-3 month clothes. Not to worry, though, your closet is filled with clothes!
Your biggest milestone so far: you’ve been sleeping 4-6 hours at night. You eat every 2 hours during the day, so getting a break at night is wonderful for mommy & daddy! We love you, Amelia!
